Mom and the computer AGAIN!!
I came home tonight, and everything on the computer was gone. I asked why everything was gone, and got "the computer was reformatted" answer.
So, naturally, I asked why it got reformatted, and mom said it was my programs that got viruses onto the computer,
This is a list of what I had downloaded:
-Mozilla Firefox.
-Ares.
-Xfire.
-A retail copy of Halo PC.
-And, add the fact I scan everything I download before opening or extracting.
List of what mom had downloaded:
-BearShare I mean, honestly!. The worst fucking P2P program in existance, and loaded with viruses and pedo-priests.
-MSN Winks, among the worst things to download off of the internet, also loaded with viruses and spyware.
-Various "anti-virus" programs, anti-virus programs I myself have never heard of.
-Google Desktop/Upgrader.
-Loads of internet browser toolbars.
-Add that mom never scans anything before opening or extracting anything.
Essentially, the only reason I see why I got blamed is because I actually know something about computers, and as you know adults to be, they have to be right simply because they're older, and never do anything wrong.
Tell me people, who was to blame?
So, I'm not allowed to have the following on the computer anymore:
-Xfire
-Mozilla Firefox
-Ares
-Halo
Hell, I'm not even allowed to re-install the drivers for my new graphics card, which I paid 160 bucks for. I might as well take it back and get my money back for it now, seeing as it is now useless.

Re: Mom and the computer AGAIN!!
shit. My mom is like that sometime. sorry man. it was your mom that gave you the virus.
Re: Mom and the computer AGAIN!!
I know for a fact that it isn't Mozilla because, on my old Laptop I downloaded Firefox for that very reason because IE is plagued w/ viruses.
Also, unless its a game using Steam (which is essentially spyware because it looks @ your personal data), I doubt it would be the game, which is in your case Halo. It's either Xfire which can send viruses via "spoofed emails (google search that) or Ares, which I've never even heard of.
So bottom line:
You- 1 Parents-0
PS.
You could always go back to that abandoned building to get another comp
Edit:
Looked at the wrong list but I guess it was good info anyway. As for your moms list it was most likely the Bearshare or the IE downloads.

In all honesty one of the best ones is Norton Anti-virus. There should be a download link somewhere on their website. Also another good Browser is Safari as I haven't had any problems w/ it yet. The only thing is I'm not sure if it's a Mac exclusive browser.
